Georgetown Sportfishing Charters LLCFishing opportunities exist here year round. We tailor our strategy and methods to accommodate your preferences, the season and the fishing time available. The target species will vary as well as the methods employed to catch them. We troll, slow troll with live bait, bottom fish, chum, anchor, or drift as needed to increase the odds of making the day. In many cases we do combination trips to take advantage changing conditions. Offshore, we have access to Gulf Stream water and fish attracting structure such as the Georgetown Hole, a steep canyon like set of bottom contours where the depth rapidly drops from 160 feet to over 600 in less than 1/4 mile. This location attracts bait and many species of gamefish including Yellowfin and Blackfin Tuna, Wahoo, Dolphin, Sailfish and Marlin. Other productive areas include Winyah Scarp, the Southwest Banks, the Sanctuary and Bubble Rock. Just inshore from these locations, on the "break" are many ledges, rolls, wrecks and live bottom areas that produce good catches of Grouper, Red and Vermillion Snapper, Amberjack and other bottom dwelling species. The Inshore waters around Georgetown abound with live bottom, wrecks and other artificial reef materials forming attractive habitat to King and Spanish Mackerel, Cobia, Spadefish, Jack Crevalle, Black Seabass and other species. The jetties, beaches, and inlets are home to Flounder, Red Drum (Spottails), Black Drum, Speckled Seatrout, Sheepshead, and Ladyfish. The late summer and early fall provides exciting Tarpon action as the Mullet school up in the inlets. Spinner and Blacktip Shark also make for thrilling aerial battles on light tackle at this time as well. Georgetown itself is a jewel, a beautiful and historic city located where five rivers and the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW) meet picturesque Winyah Bay. It is a deep water harbor established in the early 1700's as an international port to ship the rice and indigo (blue dye) grown in the areas many plantations, many of which still exist as residences or historic locations. Accommodations range from modern Hotels and Resorts to classic Inn's and Bed & Breakfasts located in the historic district of the city. In addition to fishing, many of South Carolina's famous Golf destinations are within a short scenic drive up Route 17 to Pawleys Island and other points North.
